The right Theory
This week, a local band will share a stage with one of the world's biggest rock stars after beating off competition from a host of other acts for the honour.

A Theory Of Everything will be one of the support bands for Duff McKagan's Loaded at The Spring & Airbrake on Thursday, September 25 and guitarist David McClure is excited at the prospect of playing with one of his heroes.
McKagan made his name with the hugely successful Guns N'Roses in the eighties and nineties before they split acrimoniously and he went on to form Velvet Revolver with fellow Roses men, guitarist Slash and drummer Matt Sorum.
A Theory Of Everything faced a long process to get to the final of the Battle Of The Bands contest in the Spring & Airbrake venue before being chosen ahead of three other bands for the prize of a support slot with Duff.
Having warmed up for the gig with a headline show at The Square Peg in Warrenpoint last Saturday, the band can't wait to get a taste of the big time alongside one of the biggest stars of the modern era.
They burst onto the scene a year ago with their debut EP, ‘Actions To Define', a rip-roaring exercise in out and out rock that showcased just how good the band had the potential to be. They followed that up with the even better ‘Behind Closed Eyes EP' and the combination of both and their storming live shows got the ball rolling for the gig with Loaded.

"We've been busy enough with gigs over the last while but the main part of our lives have been put towards recording a new EP over the last 12 months," said guitarist David McClure.
"For us to get the chance to even be playing on the same stage as somebody as well known as Duff McKagan is unbelievable. We all grew up listening to Guns N'Roses, so it will be a big honour. The Limelight is quite a small place and I can't see every band having their own dressing room so hopefully we'll be able to meet him socially as well."
The four founding members of Ruairi, Keith, David and Patrick had been writing and recording the music for a number of songs for over a year. Gary completed the five-man rock outfit in the Autumn of 2006 and set about writing lyrics that would endeavour to match the strength of the music.
"We had been in contact with the people who run the gigs in The Limelight a while back but it took us longer to get there than we actually thought it would," he said. "We were told that there was a possibility of this Duff McKagan gig but they were bringing their own support so we never really thought anything more about it. Once we got word that there was going to be a competition to win a support slot we sent off the CD and I think there were about 100 other bands in it as well. It was then whittled down to four and we were shortlisted for the final.
"We were first on out of the four, so we were a bit apprehensive about that. The doors opened at 10pm and we were on at 10.20! We were worried that there wouldn't be much of a crowd there when we were on."
A Theory Of Everything play in the Spring & Airbrake with Duff McKagan's Loaded on Thursday 25. Tickets are available from www.ticketmaster.co.uk priced at £22 and www.geturticket.com for £21.
