ABOUT A THEORY OF EVERYTHING

Gary Short - Vocals
David McClure - Guitar
Ruairi McGivern - Guitar
Patrick Campbell - Bass
Keith Kinney - Drums

This story began, subconsciously, back in the school days of this 'future' rock line-up. Over half of the band went to 'The Abbey', a bit of an unaware breeding ground for music in the Newry area. Guitarist David and front man Gary were in the same class at one point and Patrick, on Bass, was in the year below, until he decided to leave due to artistic differences. Inevitability crossed the remaining paths.

Keith, the power of the percussion section, and Ruairi, on guitar, were two of the few individuals who were into good music in Newry, the Rock scene being pretty few and far between, so we all knew each other to see at any late lock in or random session.

We all began to play some form of instrument, other than the obvious, at an early age and it simply built from there. (No erection jokes please.) Ruairi has been in bands ever since he could walk, with a list too many to mention.  Keith and Patrick got together as the rhythm section of a young local band 'John in the raw' for a short while. David played axe in the group Skaramanga for a long, LONG time. While Gary, on the other hand, didn't do the band thing at the start.  He did solo sets (guitar and vocals) in his local bar, busked with mates and just played and sang at any party he went to. (With or without permission.)

The formation, that was to become A Theory Of Everything, started when Ruairi and Keith were in a band, playing mainly covers.  Their creative juices were being sapped dry within the confines of this rigid setup.  Another avenue was desperately needed for them to breath.  They left with the intention of developing their own sound with a band that would create 'everything' from scratch.

Ruairi needed someone who could match him in manic axe grinding and they had seen David around on the circuit. Coincidentally, David already had something going with Patrick. So now all they needed was a front man.

The guys auditioned a number of possible candidates, but none seemed to fit the bill. Patrick had played in the beginnings of a band with Gary and thought that his creativity could match the bands obvious musical talent. He was correct.

The 4 founding members of Ruairi, Keith, David and Patrick had been writing / recording the music for a number of songs for a year.  Gary completed the 5 man rock outfit in the fall of 2006 and set about writing lyrics that would endeavour to match the strength of the music.

They have been working non-stop since then to evolve and develop the sound that you now hear on their debut EP 'Actions to Define'.

Influences include Led Zepplin, Guns N'Roses, Alice In Chains and Tool to name but a few.  But we could be here all day talking about who influenced who, getting carried away like most music lovers do. Let’s just say that each member brings something slightly different to the party, to add to the drive and vision of their sound.

This band is definitely not one you want to miss.
